This School Rock Like No Other came out in January 1996 and took the country by storm. The Disney TV original movie premiered to an enormous 7.73 million viewers and became an instant hit. High School Musical 2 debuted on TV in August of 2007 and drew an unbelievable 17.2 million viewers, almost 10 million more than the original and more than any other program ever shown on basic cable. The 6.1 million child-viewers that tuned in for Musical 2 is more than any telecast in TV history and High School Musical 2 also ranks second for most watched entertainment telecast by tweens, just behind the Super Bowl of 2004.
